[1] Throughout his life he was a keen amateur chemist, sometimes engaging in the hobby in a laboratory in his back garden. [87] He had from his youth enjoyed football, supporting Wolverhampton Wanderers, [88] for whom he composed an anthem "He Banged The Leather for Goal", [89] and in his later years he frequently attended horseraces.

Eight years older than Elgar, she became his wife three years later, against the wishes of her family. Elgar conducted the first performance in Worcester in September 1890. Since Variation IX is dedicated to Elgar's German friend August Jaeger, this invites the translation of this English rendering into German as Ein feste Burg. Ce morceau est très populaire et est maintenant considéré comme l' hymne britannique non officiel [1]. Plusieurs années après, un renouveau, au moins en Grande-Bretagne, d'intérêt apparait pour la musique du compositeur. Purcell was extremely talented in word-setting and composed very successful works for stage. By pairing of a melody note with a bass note, a single cell in the checkerboard grid is designated at their intersection containing a plain text letter.

Vaughan Williams had admitted the 16 year old Britten to the Royal Academy of Music with a scholarship, which did not redeem him in Ben’s eyes. The discovery of a 6 x 6 music checkerboard cipher draws renewed attention to Elgar's use of the music interval known as the sixth within the Enigma Theme. Elgar's music is set against nostalgic film clips from the early decades of the 20th century with scenes of beautiful rural Worcestershire (which happens to my home County) where Elgar was born and composed most of his works.

The obvious one is Takemitsu but I also recommend Takahashi Yuji. The 'enigma' of the title remains: many theories have been put forward for the melody hidden behind all the variations, with suggestions such as 'Auld Lang Syne', 'Rule Britannia' and Mozart's Symphony No. 40. Heifetz doutait de l’efficacité de la conclusion originale et Piatigorsky lui avait demandé de la remplacer par «une conclusion brillante et sonore». Leonard Bernstein.
