In that sense, anonymity for people who discussed difficult ethical situations and personal values with me, is hard to provide, since by giving even the most general characteristics of the interviewee, s/he could easily be identified by peers. Therefore, when quoting from interviews I will sometimes use false identifications, or very general ones. Also in Germany, because the geographical area in which the study had been conducted is limited, the problem of providing anonymity exists. That is because geneticists working in the same federal state tend to know each other.
